Project Introduction: Chile is the world's largest copper supplier, and the country's copper production has shown signs of recovery from a 20-year low. Data released by Chile's National Statistics Institute last Friday showed that copper production in May 2024 reached a new high for the year, increasing by more than 8% compared to April and the same period last year. Although Codelco, the largest producer, stated that its production would only start to increase year-on-year in the latter half of the year, other suppliers are striving to increase their production. With the expansion of the Quebrada Blanca mine and improvements at BHP's Escondida copper mine, the Chilean government expects the country's copper production to increase by 5% this year.
