Project Introduction: The Lawa Hydropower Station is located on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, with the left bank of the dam site in Lawa Township, Batang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, and the right bank in Zhubalong Township, Mangkang County, Changdu City, Tibet. It is the 8th of the 13-cascade development plan on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, with the Yebatan Hydropower Station upstream and the Batang Hydropower Station downstream. The Lawa Hydropower Station is a large-scale (Class I, Grade 1) project primarily for power generation, also promoting local socio-economic development. The controlled watershed area at the dam site is 176,000 km ³, with an average annual flow rate of 861m²/s. The checked flood level of the reservoir is 2706.82m, with a total storage capacity of 2.467 billion m³; the normal water level is 2702.00 m, corresponding to a storage capacity of 2.314 billion m³; the dead water level is 2672.00 m, with a corresponding dead storage capacity of 1.49 billion m³; and the regulating storage capacity is 0.824 billion m³, making it a partially annually regulated power station. The power station is equipped with four 500 MW units, with a total installed capacity of 2000 MW.
